To change the default background color, click the background color swatch or adjust the slider. Autodesk has released maya 2023. Select window > settings/preferences > preferences.

In the colors window that appears, select the general tab and expand the 3d views section.
Change Maya 2023 Background Color The Rules Are Applied Whenever You Select An Image File As An Input In The Scene, Such As For A File Texture Or Image Plane.
In the preferences window that appears, select the display. To change the gradient background colors, click the gradient top and gradient bottom color swatches or adjust the sliders. To remove the color background, set the background color back to black.
